Hi to everyone,
Am sure most of you don't know the original Acoje song (lyrics and music composed by Mrs. Legazpi- she was our music teacher) but some would recall. Ask the privileged batches. Wisdom comes with age, you know.
Let's have a contest. Research on this and come 2010, the alumnus /alumna would receive something. Of course it's not the gift but the joy of reminiscing the song. Believe me, it's worth digging up.
Just dropped by to tickle your minds.
Guro

Hi Mam,

Gosh! I never heard of the song since I was in grade 5 and I have been thinking of it just recently as part of my research. Yes, what a good idea you have for the Reunion.

If you have heard it when you were in grade five, at least you now have somewhere to start with.
And if you have never heard of it, that's a challenge. :)

But just wondering mam, do you really have with you the song and the lyrics? And do you still remember the history how it was composed? Hear from you soon.

i never heard that song before, i guess. thus, it would be a great satisfaction for me to listen to the song this time. Ma'am Legazpi must be so deeply inspired when she composed the song. i hope someone could post it here for the benefit of everybody...and when comes the reunion, everybody could sing it so loud.

...and the first to post the song here could be the winner of the contest...ah ei...:) Sir/Ma'am, pardon my mischief po :) we just really need it here :) (or it is just me only who want the song to be posted here? :D hmm :D )

...anyway, and so far po, this is what i've found: acoje song or acoje jingle?

of course, it is just a song for Acoje and not the original Acoje song or theme. But good God, BB used the old 'thee' pertaining to Acoje and...right!, i think it's romantic hehe.

;) :D just passing by

regards to all

yes Miguel.
I still have it. In fact it is embedded.
Mrs. Legazpi was a very dedicated music teacher, who always had her pitch pipe with her.
She organized a choir and wrote the lyrics and music. (wayback late early 70's maybe). (there was also a banduria group, am not sure if it was her who organized though.) It was accepted as the Acoje song.
btw, may i know your family name? I might know someone from your family.
regards

Yes!!!! I remember Mrs. Leagazpi!....our music teacher....I don't remember any acoje song though that she composed. The banduria teacher was Ms. Matias our first grade teacher in the late 60s!.....I graduated 1967!!!...what a year to remember!....but I probably will recollet some of our happy days and sad days way back!...I am really happy that we have this Acoje...whoever constructed it...KUDOS to you!!I was born in Acoje and my dad was the late Vicente Fabricante. I am his fifth daughter and is now residing in Saipan. I am a retired teacher, taught here for 25 years. I sure am excited to find out my long lost friends, classmates, neighbors and anyone that have lived in Acoje that knows or familiar with my family. I remember some of the...the Damasco familly, Cabaccang, Galinato, Abalos, De Castro, Ms. Fiagoy, my English teacher...and many more!....if anyone of you out there knows me, please......get in touch with me! Thanks!...

In fact my mga old pictures pa nga kami ng mga parents mo at ate Yoly mo! We were neighbors back then right?!....but I guess you were only 10 or 12 at that time. ACOJE LOYALTY SONG

WE WILL ROAM IN THE MOUNTAIN OF ACOJE
IN SLOPES AND VALLEYS WE WILL BE
MINING CHROMITE FOR PROSPERITY AND GLORY
FOR ACOJE, FOR OUR LOVE ONCE IN OUR COUNTRY

DEAR ACOJE, YOUR NAME AND YOUR STORY
WE’LL RAISE OUR GLAD VOICES, TO THEE
WE WILL STRIVE FOR SUCCESS AND ITS GLORY
FOR THE A. C. O. J. E. (ACOJE)

AND FOR YOU OUR LOYALTY WILL NEVER END
AND OUR MEMORIES WILL ALWAYS BE WITH OUR FRIENDS
IN TIME OF CRISIS WE WILL OFFER YOU OUR HELPING HANDS
TO MAKE THIS MINE A PEACEFUL LAND
